๐Ÿ“– UTM Best Practices

Follow these rules for clean, analysable tracking data.

USE LOWERCASE
Always lowercase
UTM parameters are case-sensitive. "Google" and "google" are different sources. Always use lowercase.
USE UNDERSCORES
No spaces, use hyphens
Spaces become "%20" in URLs. Use hyphens or underscores. "spring sale" โ†’ "spring-sale".
BE CONSISTENT
Document your naming
Define your source/medium names upfront and stick to them. "_ads" vs "-ads" creates duplicate data.
KEEP IT SHORT
Descriptive but concise
"fb-ads-q1-product-launch" > "facebookadscampaignforspring2026". Your future self analyzing GA4 will thank you.
